This is my 1989 Pontiac GTA(at bottom of page). After looking on the internet I have found that there are not very many GTA's left. I also tried to find parts and information about the car with little to no luck. So I decided to make a page for the few and proud GTA owners.

A little about my GTA: I did not have to do very much to the car because it was in great shape when I bought it. The motor is a late L98-LT1 (early). It came from the factory pushing 285HP. I have raised it up to 400HP. It has 3" exhaust with a racing cadalytic converter and has a Flowmaster muffler with MSD ignition system. The fuel system has a 200gph electric pump with an adjustable pressure regulator. Because my GTA is driven every day I can not do much more work on it now, but I hope that soon I will have the task of completely restoring it to the original condition while keeping it as close to factory as possible. The exciting thing is that the car leaves the passing gear at 110mph with a lot of pedal left before the floor!

As far as the GTA in general is concerned here is a breif explanation of it. In a word, The car was built for racing.

Pros: The braking system has four wheel disc brakes with 4 pistons per caliper on the front and the rear. The drive line is amazing with an aluminum drive shaft, and a larger gear ratio on the differential, which is not good for fuel economy. The suspension has over sized sway bars usually 2 1/2 on the front and 2 3/4 on the rear. Most of the chassie is aluminum alloy for weight reduction. The motors are actually from the same as the Corvettes of that year so most parts for the Corvettes can also be used on the GTA. The main difference between the GTA and the Corvette is that the GTA was designed with more pep than the Corvette.

Downfalls: The design itself that Pontiac used on the GTA has been proven to rob the car from at least 30hp. The car is a little heavy but feels very light, especially on wet roads. Use extreme caution and no ice driving. Under the hood the motor is pushed back for weight distribution which makes it difficult to work on. Also the motor sits lower than a camaro so the only way to change spark plugs is from the bottom. The entire nose is sealed off for aerodynamics and there is 1 1/2" of space between the radiator fans and the front of the motor.

Website: To start off the design of the page I wanted to put a little of my car as well as the other GTA's. This site will be moved but there will be a link on the New Master Page in a couple of months. As of now I am including a picture of my car as well as some good websites to visit. If you have any sites that relate to the GTA F-bodies or older please E-mail me. THANK YOU.
